My Life

There was a point in my life,
When tomorrow’s challenge was unknown,
And fear of ignorance made me tremble,
Shaking in the shadows that I hid beneath,
Fearing my reflection in other’s eyes.
There was a point in my life,
When tomorrow’s challenge appeared large,
And my smallness was all that I could see;
Standing still so no one would ever notice
How very insignificant I was.
There was a point in my life,
When tomorrow’s challenge was ignored,
Dressed in armor of bravado, my laughter
Blurred the pictures of others in my eyes,
But kept focused, my reflection in theirs.
There was a point in my life,
When tomorrow’s challenge was today,
And fear of falling kept me holding on,
Clutching tightly to me, all that I could hold,
Suffocating love with my fear of loss.
There was a point in my life,
When tomorrow’s challenge became death,
Dreaming life back into the ones I loved,
The strength of my will, my only weapon.
But death comes as surely as does tomorrow,
Blind and uncaring, seeing not it’s harvest;
Bringing nothing to me but the knowledge,
There was no point to my life.
