Softly
Monday, April 25th, 2005Softly, like water
Flowing to find its balance,
Love seeks its own path,
And in its time, finds balance,
Like water, softly flowing.
Softly, like water
Flowing to find its balance,
Love seeks its own path,
And in its time, finds balance,
Like water, softly flowing.
There is a well within my heart,
Whose depth can not be known.
I draw from it, the nourishment,
For seeds of love, I’ve sown.
It matters not, how much I take,
The well can not go dry,
It’s deeper than an ocean, and
It’s broader than the sky.
And if my love should fall upon,
A vessel over-filled,
It is not lost, it falls instead,
Like rain, on fields untilled.
For love is like a river full,
Which sometimes overflows,
Yet leaves a richer field to which,
I bring more seeds to sow.
You see, my love is just a gift,
And giving is the key.
The happiness it brings is mine,
A gift I give to me.
No greater joy, have I yet known,
Than being able to
Reach deep within my well of love,
To pass the gift to you.
Oh, how I miss thee,
As the night would miss the stars,
Or the lark, the dawn,
As the seas would miss the rivers
Pouring their lives into them.
Oh, how I miss thee,
And the song of your laughter
Spilling from your smile,
Like the music of wind chimes
Playing with the evening breezes.
Oh, how I miss thee,
And the warmth beneath your touch,
A warmth that fills me,
Spreading from beneath your hand,
To fill all my secret places.
Though I see your face
In clouds dancing in the sky,
In sun and shadow,
Though the wind recalls your voice
To me, oh, how I miss thee.
How cold, the night alone without your love,
And still, this place, as though within a tomb,
Yet hopes, I see, within the stars above,
That shining through the windows, fill my room.
How warm the morning sun, so like your touch,
That left the glow of love upon my skin,
Yet cold the evening winds, that leave as much
A chill of loneliness, that creeps within.
The rain that falls like tears, upon my face,
Continues on to one day fill the sea,
And wind that chills my heart, here in this place,
Fills sails that carry you, away from me.
And yet, this world that parts us, may some day,
Return the love, this fool let go astray.
For a lady who is sailing in a 34′, around the globe.
Tonight
I’ll go to sleep
Listening to the surf.
You’ll sleep in the arms of the sea,
Tonight.
