Constancy

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

Yesterday, I watched
As the waves rolled in and out,
And I thought of you.
Each wave drew new sand pictures,
But the waves came like heart beats.
Constant as the tide,
And Heaven’s journey above,
This is what you are;
A fresh picture each morning,
But there each morning, always.

A Picture

Sunday, April 23rd, 2006

She tied her golden hair
Like a bouquet of flowers
Alongside her face,
And in the haze of morning,
My eyes beheld a Monet.
A cloud of beauty,
Smiling, as the night vanished
Into a picture
That folded around my heart
Like a grandmother’s blanket.

The Moon

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

I’m hiding the moon,
I saw it in my teacup,
And I swallowed it.
It tasted like my Earl Grey,
With a hint of bergamot.

I didn’t chew it.
It went down like a whisper
I might have let out
To tickle the little hairs
Shining in front of your ears.

Promise not to laugh,
And I’ll let you wear the moon
Like a little crown.
I’ll put it on your forehead,
But it will feel like a kiss.

Torn

Wednesday, April 19th, 2006

Torn between our worlds,
With Elementals chiding
My indecision,
Tossing wind and rain at me,
The Earth rumbling beneath me.

I’ve begun to see
Them, as they dance just beyond
The edge of my sight.
My failures cause their laughter,
But in their souls, they love me.

I hear them calling,
Sylph and Undine, wind and wave,
Trying to draw me
Out into the spirit world,
Into the world of knowing.

And then, there is you,
Gnome-friend, with flames in your eyes
Flashing like the tails
Of Salamanders, golden
Like the promises of dawn.

You smile and touch me,
I hear the words, “I love you”,
But your roots are deep,
Mine, just a veil in the air,
Threads for the wind to play with.

I’d give what I could,
But nothing is left of me.
Where you would create,
My vessel has only love
Left, to bridge between our worlds.

One Day, One Life

Monday, April 3rd, 2006

Oh Dawn, bright Dawn, once more begin your flight,
On wings of gold and crimson cross the skies,
Come, wipe aside the dew left by the night,
With rosy fingers, gently touch my eyes,

Life’s course is like the passage of the sun,
That fights free of the dark, to start the day,
Yet scarcely as its lofty goal is won,
Uncaring time does send it on its way.

As youth fades into age, and daylight wanes,
Life’s bounty, like the sunset, warms my heart,
For those no longer here, the love remains,
Still, thankful for it all, I too must part.

As gently slips the sun, beneath the sea,
So life’s last breath, will one day slip from me.
