Fondly
Passion
May be expressed
In many words and deeds,
A kiss, or in a lingering
Embrace.
A brief
Hesitation,
Before you look away,
Or eyelids falling, just before
You smile.
Passion
Can be a touch
Held for just a moment,
Or the hug that love makes you turn
Back for.
Passion,
Can be the words
You use in your greeting,
Or the one you choose to close a
Brief note.
Passion
Needs a purpose,
So it was that I asked
To give the passion of my words
To you,
Perhaps,
I reach too far,
But in truth, I only
Reach out with my passion, to find
A Muse.
Someone,
To tend the flame
That burns within my soul,
And from time to time, fuel it with
A smile.
Is this
Too much to ask?
If so, I shall withdraw,
But I will always think of you,
Fondly.

Recently, I received an e-mail from an old lover, and he signed it “Fondly”, so this poem means so much to me now.
