Laughter and Music

Monday, October 30th, 2006

Softly, the music
In the background masks the beat
Of a lonely heart.
Loudly, his laughter would hide
His loneliness from others.
Laughter and music,
Less words than meaning, tell of
A desperation,
A journey, too rapidly
Begun. The goal, too distant.
Run quickly the race,
Like the mayfly, so soon lost,
So quickly a shell,
Drying in the Autumn sun,
Empty of life, and music.

Come With Me

Monday, October 30th, 2006

Dance with me in the meadow,
Where the foxfire burns,
And yesterday melts
Into tomorrow.

Sing with me on the mountain,
Let our voices dance
Upon the wind roads,
Chasing eagles home.

Love with me in the moonlight,
Lying side by side,
While the night birds sing
Songs of forever.

Angel

Angels
Lift my spirits,
Touching my life with care,
And sometimes sharing visions of
Cherubs.

Roots

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

I found a place to put down roots,
But seeds I’d sown in the past,
Sucked the life from the earth,
And turned it to stone.

Now my roots hang loose in the air,
Like the fruit of last summer,
Left to dry in the sun,
And the laughing wind.

Cloud Dreams

Saturday, October 21st, 2006

As I watch the wind
Moving cloud mountains around,
I dream there’s a place
Hidden within those mountains,
Where my love would need no words.

I dream of a place,
Where time and tide would dissolve
Like the morning mist,
And my soul could stand naked
Before you, freed of life’s scars.

But the wind and clouds
Have no more substance than dreams,
And the scars of life
Hang torn and tattered on me,
A cloak, unmoved by my dreams.

This, then, I would ask,
That you find within my words,
The love I would give,
And hold it within your heart,
Dreaming it comes from the clouds.
