A Last Tear

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

The last tear at night,
Shed because of missing you,
Was dry by morning,
But the course of it’s passing
Carved a canyon through my soul.

I Wonder

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006

Do you think of me
When the music of morning
First begins to sound,
When the lark and mocking bird
Wake the world with their singing?

Do you think of me
As the sun lengthens shadows,
Until all the world
Fades into one big shadow,
And the night music begins?

Do you think of me
As your eyes close, and the night
Folds in around you,
Like the arms of a lover,
To hold you until morning?

You are in my mind
During all of these moments.
You are the music
Of my life, but I wonder,
Do you ever think of me?

On Solstice Eve

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

A day of changes;
A time to release the old,
And accept the new.
On this last day of the year,
I humbly offer these words.

I pray the Mother
Will bless my body with strength,
I pray the Father
Will bless my mind with wisdom,
And wish these blessings for all.

Hold love in your heart,
Reach out to those who stumble,
Pray for forgiveness,
Forgiving those who hurt you,
And know, all that live are one.

We are here briefly,
Though our time belongs to us,
To reap what we sow,
Fruit, or bitter herbs, until
We sleep in our Mother’s arms.

A Sonnet, Sadly

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

Alone, I set upon a lover’s quest,
To find a soul that always would be true,
Someone in whom my love would find it’s rest;
I prayed for love, and then my heart found you.

With beauty like the sunshine after rain,
Or moonlight dancing on the meadow’s dew,
And something in your smile I can’t explain,
Together form the vision that is you.

How bold to think that my love might prevail,
With one who’s yet to feel the touch of age,
The picture in my mirror tells the tale,
A withered husk that holds me like a cage,

In perfect worlds, we’d love the one we choose,
But one should never seek to love a Muse.

A Last Leaf

Saturday, December 9th, 2006

I watched
As a last leaf,
Shivering in the wind,
Lost it’s grip, and I thought, how like
My life.
