The Bats
Sunday, April 29th, 2007A squeak on high did draw my eye,
It turned my head, by chance,
And there did fly, through moon-lit sky,
Two bats, in courtship dance.
They tossed about, with joyous shouts,
Too high for me to hear,
But I could see, their love was free,
Which caused my heart to cheer.
My hopes did rise, through star-lit skies,
To know that Nature brings,
Such stirring love, to those above,
A simple mouse, with wings.
If such as these, find what they please,
Though humble they might be,
Then I shall pray, I’ll find some day,
A love meant just for me.
