Sad Eyes

Sad eyes,
Hiding behind
A sunshine colored veil,
Straining to hold back a torrent
Of tears.

Anger,
Trying to hurt
A heart, felt unworthy
For love, a heart that others know
Is pure.

Old eyes,
Trying to see
A way into a soul
That stands, arms outstretched, praying to
Find love.

Tears heal,
And gentle words,
Like balm upon a wound,
Meant only to ease the pain in
Sad eyes.

    the eyes of my heart
    are bright and smiling
    grateful and wide open

    the eyes of my heart
    never cry out of despair
    only tears of hope
    for wholeness of others

    the eyes of my heart
    are different
than the eyes of my mind
and the eyes of my soul and body

    these eyes
    lucky for me
never focus on the same thing
    at the same time

    the eyes of my heart
    see you
    so often like a mirror
    and a warm smile ensues
