Moonlight
Monday, February 18th, 2008Oak-sifted moonlight,
Patterns on the forest floor,
Shadows to hide in,
No gentle touch to warm me,
Sitting lonely in the night.
Oak-sifted moonlight,
Patterns on the forest floor,
Shadows to hide in,
No gentle touch to warm me,
Sitting lonely in the night.
Sometimes, the feelings
Are too strong for simple words,
Like my feelings now,
To know that my need for her,
Made me hurt the one I love.
Opening a door
That leads away from this world,
Brings you face to face,
With the fact that life and death,
Have always walked hand in hand.
I am
Less than shadow
On your cloudiest day,
Less than your memory’s echo,
Silence.
Tonight, I’ll watch the stars
As they climb into my sky,
Knowing, as they do,
They’ll be falling out of yours.
I’ll wonder if you watched them,
If you thought about me,
And whispered a message
For the stars to deliver.
